The UCslash FAQ

1. What is slash?

Slash is a form of fanfiction concentrated on same-sex romantical/sexual relationships.

2. What is UCslash, then?

UC stands for unconventional ie. something that isn't happening in the TV show reality, and UCslash is for unconventional slash pairings in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In UCslash you can post fic or discuss the slash pairings.

3. How this is possible with slash? Aren't all slash pairings unconventional?

There are UC pairings in slash as well. An UC slah pairing is, shall we say, a less popular pairing, thus excluding Xander/Giles, Xander/Oz, Oz/Devon, Angel/Doyle, Xander/Angel, Wes/Angel, Willow/Buffy and Buffy/Faith. All the rest you can think of are unconventional, including crossovers with other shows. Ripper/Ethan and Angel/Spike are also UC, because as universally accepted as they may be, there is an awful little of fanfic about them.

4. All right. This sounds good, how do I join?

Go to Onelist via the link on the front page and register. Then join the list, either on normal mode, digest or no mail. When you have joined, send a mail to [email protected] including your real name *and* possible pseudonym, a statement that you are above the age of consent and are you a lurker or writer. If you're okay, I'll accept you on the list and you'll receive a welcome message.

5. I'm in, so how do I post a story?

Send it to [email protected] via the mail address you are registered on. It should include at least the following information:

Title: The name of the fic

Author: This is self-explanatory. Include e-mail address if you want feedback.

Rating: US TV ratings. If in doubt, use a higher rating.

Disclaimer: Characters belong to Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy, Kuzui/Sandollar Productions and Warner Brothers. No copyright infringement is intended, or something equally creative, clearly stating the ownership, icluding possible characters from other shows/movies.

Pairing: No abbreviations. Optional, if you think it'll spoil the story.

Spoilers: Particular episodes or seasons in general. Stories containing 4th season Buffy spoilers may take more time to archive due to me not reading them, and I don't have a compatible Windows with my co-archivist.

Summary: Optional, but makes the lives of the archivists easier.

Distribution: Archive to UCslash/ no archive, and your own possible site.

Warnings: Non-consensual and underage mandatory, others optional. Sufficient warnings will decrease the possibility of flames!

Feedback: If you want some.

6. I have a Xander/Giles-story and I think it's really good, can I post it?

Conventional slash fic is accepted only if it's very, *very* explicit NC-17. Anything below that rating - no.

7. Aaargh! I got a flame, what do I do?

If it's from a list member, contact me. I'll see to it.

8. Previous episode of Buffy was incredibly slashy UC pairing-wise and I want to share! Is there anything special I should do?

If discussing about fourth season episodes, *any* fourth season episodes, the subject line should contain "Spoilers" and the message body itseld a sufficient spoiler space. Like this:

Wohoo! Spike kissed Xander! Does this mean they're a conventional pairing now?

9. I have further questions. Who will answer?
